‘Get to bed before the 10 o’clock horses get ya!

‘That’s what we were told by our mums and dads to get us to bed when we were young. The thought of headless horsemen racing through the streets certainly did get us into bed but I think it also affected our minds in a somewhat disturbing way to the point of us becoming the 10 o’clock horses ‘the people your mother warned you about! ‘
In reality though the 10 o clock horses ( also referred to as the gong men , night riders among others ) were no more than people that use to come with the horse and cart and collect all of the human waste from the bottom of the garden toilet late at night ,It is also believed that they used the nitrate out of the waste to make gunpowder!

To add to this story Aura Msimang sent us this ........

'I was reading about where the name came from, and its funny but we used to have the same services when I was growing up (talking 50's here), and we called the service 'maspungane' pronounced (maas..poon..ga..ne), I believe certain small towns still have them.
Whats even more hilarious, we used to get the same threats from our parents when we misbehaved!!'

ALSO AS YOU MAY BE AWARE WE RECORDED SOME TRACKS IN THE STUDIO LAST YEAR THAT WE DID NOT GET TO FINISH ,

WELL THESE TRACKS ARE BEING WORKED ON AS WE SPEAK IN THE FORM OF COLLABORATIONS AND REMIXES .

We are really happy to have on board, in a collaboration of our track 'Didge Song' Aura Msimang's lyrics and interpretation named Restless spirit (And the beat goes on). This was done at the Base2Base Studios, in Johannesburg SA, with Katlego 'Major' on the technical controls. We are very happy with the outcome of this long distance collaboration, watch this space as there's more to come.

Dub my world.....
The long-awaited first collaboration between London soundsystem Urban Dub and 10 o’clock horses is now available. ‘Dub my world’ is on the new Urban Dub CD ‘seven track bootleg’

The new CD ’seven track bootleg ‘ is just that and will ONLY be available to OUR POSSE at the 10 O'Clock Horses or Urban Dub gigs .

Mr Roopie from Urban Dub says:

"We've decided to BIG UP the 10 O'Clock Horses and Urban Dub Massive by giving OUR POSSE exclusive tracks that no-one else will be able to get hold of. We can sell the "Seven Track Bootleg" for £3.50 at the dances and keep the vibes and new material just for our close friends at the gigs. WE LOVE THE 10 O'CLOCK HORSES CREW! It's a real big thrill and an honour to see the crowd at the gigs! Thanks for coming and we hope you enjoy yourselves as much as we always do. Just keep doing what you're doing because we appreciate you and we can't wait to see you again next time.
